Double agent is still taking action

double agent@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

Double agent is still taking action.

On YouTube, there is a TV film called Double Agent. This is an old movie released in 1987. It tells a story that: An international spy Jason Starr (starred by Michael McKean) disappears in a mission. His boss Vaughn then persuades successfully his twin brother Warren Starbinder (a veterinarian, also starred by Michael McKean) to pose as Jason for the uncompleted mission. Warren experiences much uneasiness during the mission since he is not a spy. Finally, he gets the mission completed.

Twin is not only always a hot-topic in a spy story, but also an important theme of anti-spy in real life. I believe there are many double agents in Canada, because life is built on reality. If let me organize an anti-spy squad to catch twin spies in Canada, my friends Playford, Richards, and also Dave will be the best candidates. One day when I visit China, hope no guys think I have a twin brother there and he will be shipped back here for instead, so to replace and continue my life in Canada. :)

Beijing won’t change its attitude to June 4th Incident

Shanghai Index on June 4th@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

According to worldjournal.com, the Shanghai stock composite index opened at 2346.98 points on June 4. If we reverse the reading order of the digits, it is easily reminiscent of the day of the 23 anniversary of Chinese June 4th incident, which happened on June 4th, 1989. Another more surprising coincidence was the Shanghai Composite Index fell 64.89 points to close that day’s business in Shanghai stock market (See the picture).

No matter whether it was a coincidence or not, the analysts believe Chinese government won’t change its attitude to the June 4th Tiananmen Incident in a foreseeable future. The reasons are as follows,

1. Chinese political stage is still deeply influenced by its 3rd generational leaders, f.g. Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, etc. The Chinese Communist Party (CPC)’s newspaper People’s Daily emphasized recently again and again the CPC’s absolute leadership to Chinese Military, and the emphasis works.

2. Compared to the economy of western countries, China’s economy is still much better. In such a situation, the Chinese leading party certainly lacks of a willing to say no to what it did in the past.

3. With its comprehensive national strength, China can use not only military forces but also foreign trade to deal with international issues. For example, on the recent island dispute with Philippine, China made successfully Philippine retreat after reducing banana imports from Philippine and Chinese people’s tours to that country. Of course, the still powerful CPC does not feel it should say no to the history of itself.

The recent China, a chameleon facing the world

Is China a Chameleon@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

A chameleon is a kind of lizard whose skin changes colour to match the colour of its surroundings. Today, the analysts believe that China has successfully imitated the strategy of chameleons by discarding Chongqing Model represented by Bo Xilai, the former Communist Party Leader of China Chongqing.

The analysts believe this strategy of China works obviously quiet well, as people can see that the relationship between U.S. and China has turned into a new honey period since April of 2012, which is marked by following events:

1. In the nowadays dispute between China and Philippine on Huangyan Island (Panatag Shoal) in the South China Sea, U.S. has taken a neutral stand.

2. After the fourth-round of U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogues concluded in Beijing Friday, U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton expressed at a press briefing that U.S. welcomes a strong and prosperous China.

3. Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie arrived U.S. Friday for an official visit.

4. U.S. dealt flexibly with the Chen Guangcheng incident.

As we know, China is trying to switch its economic developing model from a rough and low technological one to a much healthy model that has high quality, high efficiency and low pollution. Obviously, China has realized that the Chongqing model represented by Bo Xilai would isolate China more in the world and block seriously China’s way to both obtain and export high technologies, which is essential to realize this model-switch.

The Analysts believe, China has still no willing to change much its political system, although U.S. has dreamed the change to happen in China for years. The reason for China is very simple: China has become and is still the second largest economic entity in the world, and the western countries have been still stuck in bad economies since 2008.

Recently by setting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao as a honey trap to the western world and by discarding the Chongqing model under the excuse of purging Bo Xilai, China is successfully lulling U.S. and widening a bit its way for new development. The chameleon’s way works, as long as only the analysts see Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao as a honey trap to U.S., but U.S. does not.

Why won’t North Korean regime collapse?

North Korean Rally against South@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

While a routine joint military drill between South Korea and U.S. is being held these days, China Central TV reported on March 03, 2012 that North Korean military officials and 100 thousand civilians convened a rally in Pyongyang to denounce the joint U.S.-South Korean war exercises.

As we know, the annual joint military drill is designed to deal with the aftermath of North Korean regime collapse, but the analysts believe the collapse of the North expected by the South won’t happen. The reasons can be analyzed as follows,

1. North Korea is one of the East Asian countries deeply influenced by Confucianism in history. In such countries, no matter what kinds of ideologies and beliefs, these ideologies or beliefs combine inevitably well with Confucian ethics. Humaneness, Righteousness, Etiquette, Loyalty, and Filial Piety are implanted into people’s souls via the education of traditional culture. Therefore, the people there accept rather easily a cult of personality and obey more willingly the ruling class and superior officials. This phenomenon can be called an ideology with a country’s own characteristics. A most obvious example is China’s socialism with Chinese characteristics. The North Korea will not be immune to this as well.

2. The leaders of North Korea successfully use so-called nationalism. The western countries may think that the hereditary political system of North Korea is vulnerable to be condemned. However, in the eyes of North Koreans, which side of the two Koreas can represent more the Korean nation? As we know, if a sudden war between North and South Korea were to occur, U.S. would assume control of the South Korean armed forces. By the effect of a media-control and under a flag of nationalism, the top leader of North Korea can easily confuse his people: ‘Look! Anyway, I am a Korean. Do you know who is the highest commander of South Korean military? An American! A Korean government and a government controlled by Americans, which is a better representative of Korean nation?’

3. Due to the Eastern Bloc’s collapse in 1990s, serious shortages on resources extremely disrupted North Korean economic development, but the Military-first policy started since 2000s stabilized significantly the North Korean military and Kim’s regime supported by the belligerent soldiers of it. Because of North Korean geological and historical relationships with China and Russia, the analysts cannot see at least in a foreseen future that the fate of Libyan Gaddafi will happen on Kim Jong-un----North Korean regime won’t have a chance to collapse, unless China’s political system is dramatically changed one day first.

Is Wang Lijun’s open letter to the world believable?

Wang Lijun 王立军@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

On February 06, China Chongqing Vice-Mayor Wang Lijun (王立军) entered the US consulate in southwest China and remained there for one day, according to the office of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman. On February 10, www.danwei.com posted the translation of a so-called Purported Open Letter from Wang Lijun (attached at the bottom). After reading the open letter, the analysts believe it should be believable and truly from Wang Lijun. The letter explained well why Wang rebelled against Bo Xilai (薄熙来), his boss, top leader of the Chinese Communist Party in Chongqing.

As why Wang Lijun did stay for one day in the US consulate in Chengdu of China and left there with his own volition, the analysts believe, under the situation then, Wang had to take this way to escape from Bo Xilai’s control and chase, so as to reach Chinese Central Government. He left the US consulate without seeking asylum was because he still thought he was a kid of his parent, the Chinese Communist Party, although he would have to pay the cost with his political life for the trip to the US consulate.

The analysts believe Wang Lijun must have had much evidence that should be enough to topple Bo Xilai, otherwise, it was too ridiculous for Wang to take such a kamikaze act. Wang Lijun exposed his party’s internal problem to the world will not be tolerated by the Chinese Communist Party, even his materials against Bo Xilai can be proved later to be watertight. As a senior official in the Chinese political system, Wang has no reason to unknown this rule.

In China, there is an idiom Yu Shi Wang Po (鱼死网破), which can be translated as Everyone Is A Loser. Wang Lijun launched such a kamikaze attack reflected that Bo Xilai over-used too much his subordinates for the consolidation of his own political status, and Bo still does not know how to sail well in China’s political sea, due to a lack of critical experience to understand the bitterness of his subordinates' work. Because of his father, Bo Xilai got easily the recent position in China political stage. Now he has to pay back for this helicopter-style promotion.

________________________________
Li Yinhe’s note:
I don’t know the whole situation so I cannot judge it, but I am just putting Wang Lijun’s own one-sided statement out there.

My open letter to the whole world:
When everyone sees this letter, I’ll either be dead or have lost my freedom. I want to explain to the whole world the reasons behind my actions. In short: I don’t want to see the Party’s biggest hypocrite Bo Xilai carry on performing: When such evil officials ruling the state, it will lead to calamity for China and disaster for our nation.

Bo Xilai’s “Singing Red Songs” is a farce, a show designed specifically to gain him entrance to the Standing Committee. This is Bo Xilai’s “Cultural Revolution”! He is a despot who makes arbitrary decisions, hateful and ruthless. If you going along with him you’ll prosper, go against him and you’ll perish. He always forces his subordinates to use any means possible to do all kinds of unspeakable things on his behalf. If you don’t comply you are dealt with ruthlessly. He treats people like chewing gum: after a little chew, he just throws you away, and he doesn’t care whose fit you ender up under.

He is really the capo di tutti capi. He has taken over the Party, the people and the whole city of Chongqing, and turned it into his personal fiefdom. His personality is such that he will not give up the goal of become the top mob boss of China and to achieve this goal he is willing to do anything.

Bo Xilai has the reputation of being honest and upright, but he is actually corrupt to the core, conniving at his family members getting outrageously rich. I have documented these matters, and have already submitted reports to the relevant parties and I also ask that friends abroad help to circulate this letter to the world. I also hope to one day use these materials to publish a book.

Bo Xilai has ruthlessly fought his way to the top, as you can see from his struggling against his own father in the Cultural Revolution, and the way he has treated his brothers and sisters, and his ex-wife. I was willing to risk my life on his behalf, and he treated me worse than he’d treat a dog. When I first refused to his dirty work, he had my driver and other people taken away, as a threat to me.

Well, a gentleman prefers death over humiliation! I am not a hero; I am willing to give my sweat and blood for the people, but I am no longer quietly cry while working under the thumb of such an evil man. Everybody’s got to die, I am willing to use my life to expose the Bo Xilai. For the sake of ridding the Chinese system of this scourge on the people, this brazen careerist, I am willing to sacrifice everything!

Why did China vote against UN draft resolution on Syrian issue?

Wen Jiabao visited Middle East@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

On February 4, China voted against UN draft resolution on Syrian issue. Analysts believe that was because China was trying its best to postpone or stop a possible war from Western countries to Iran, although the UN draft appeared to be only a resolution on Syrian issue.

China does not believe there is any country, which is able to topple China’s regime with military forces. Through lessons that it has taken from the former Soviet Union and the recent “Arabian Spring”, China does believe that a rapid deterioration of people’s life will be the prime enemy to its regime. If Iran were attacked, the soaring price of oil would seriously down-grade China’s economy, and therefore affect China’s political stability.

China had put a damper on the Iranian side when China’s Prime Minister Wen Jiabao visited Middle East last month. During the visit, Wen declared China’s disagreement on a possible development of Iranian nuclear bomb. This time, by the veto on Syrian issue, China put another damper on the side of U.S. and Israel, because an Assad controlled Syria may attack Israel to alleviate its internal and external crises once Iran is under attack. As long as Assad regime exists, U.S. and Israeli plan to attack Iran will be much difficult to make.

Penguin and Spy Dove

Penguin and Spy Dove@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

Penguin used to be a member of the Sea Club. However, it quit two years ago because it felt the club did not trust it enough. To the Sea Club, it was the truth that the club itself did not trust Penguin before, but it was also the truth that the club did not want Penguin to leave.

To force Penguin to rejoin the Sea Club, the Sea Club used widely its relationships and social networks to block covertly Penguin’s ways to join the other clubs. This situation had lasted for one and a half year, until one day the Sea Club decided to switch to a new way to play.

This time, the Sea Club did not hinder Penguin intentionally when it knew Penguin was trying to join the Bird-Tech Club. After Penguin was taken into the Bird-Tech Club, the Sea Club infiltrated successfully an agent Dove into this club to spy what Penguin would do there.

Half year later, the winter came, and it was harder and harder to find food for the Bird-Tech Club. The management of the club decided to fire a member to ease the food shortage. Because almost all members of the club, except Penguin and Dove, were relatives of the managing staff, the management could only put the sight on Penguin and Dove to fire one of them.

Both Penguin and Dove always worked hard there, but the management of the Bird-Tech Club thought Penguin ate less and was more willing to dump garbage and do low-level work daily than Dove, so it decided to keep Penguin and tried to squeeze Dove out of the club.

Looking down on the plan to spy on Penguin, Dove thought the plan was in danger, so it had to report secretly to the Sea Club for help. The Sea Club took action immediately by telling the director of the Bird-Tech Club that Penguin was a guy the Sea Club still liked and wanted. Because the living condition of the Sea Club was much better than that of the Bird-Tech Club in winter, the director of the Bird-Tech Club thought Penguin must want to return back to the Sea Club.

Since then, the director of the Bird-Tech Club did not trust Penguin any more due to a lack of self-confidence. The Bird-Tech Club stopped squeezing Dove out. Dove’s membership was saved, and it could continue monitoring Penguin day by day after then. Looking at Penguin who was turned into trouble again, the staff of the Sea Club could not help falling in laughing even in their night dreams.

How long will the mighty U.S. forces last in Asia?

Fu Di Chou Xin 釜底抽薪@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

At the beginning of 2012, U.S. president Obama unveiled new military strategy to switch focus to the Asia-Pacific region. It will focus much more on the capacity of America's air and naval forces to balance a competitor like China. In facing the changed strategy from U.S., what will China do?

In ancient China’s Thirty-Six Stratagems, there is a stratagem called Fu Di Chou Xin (釜底抽薪) --Extracting the Firewood from under the Cauldron. Analysts believe China has been using this stratagem successfully. With this stratagem China is gradually dissolving the mighty U.S forces.

If we look the mighty U.S. military forces as boiling water in the Cauldron, what is the firewood under it then? The answer is economy. Without a strong economy, the mighty U.S. military will be unsustainable, same as the water in the cauldron will cool down. This has been proved in Obama’s New Military Strategy Report --- Not pursue to win two wars simultaneously anymore, but only one-plus due to U.S. bad financial situation.

In the future, to ‘extract further the firewood from under the cauldron’, China will continue expanding its trade with ASEAN Countries, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and India to marginalize further U.S. businesses in this area. To prevent from U.S. sabotaging China’s business relationships in the area, China will do its best to avoid hard crashes with U.S. military forces and the forces of relevant countries, although it will still emphasis verbally its sovereignty in South China Sea and continue developing in full swing its anti-access military power to protect itself.

China is now the largest trading partner of ASEAN and Australia. It is also a significant trading partner of South Korea, Japan, India, and Taiwan. With less and less firewood under the cauldron, how long will U.S. be able to boil its water? This is what many analysts concern about.

A mirror Canada may need to remove hypocrisy

叶公好龙 Ye Gong Hao Long@peterpeng210.blogspot.com

Hi, Happy New Year 2012!

2012 is a year of dragon in China. This let me ring the bell of a Chinese idiom Yè Gōng Hào Lóng (叶公好龙), which can be translated in English as Lord Ye’s love of the dragon or Professed love of what one really fears.

Some analysts believe this ancient Chinese idiom may also be useful as a mirror to remove some hypocrisy of our Canada and make us behave better.

Let us read the story of the idiom as follows,

Long long ago, there lived a duke whom people address as Lord Ye. Everyone in the town knew that Lord Ye was very fond of dragons. His home was a world of dragons. He decorated everything in his house with this mythical creature. The walls had dragons painted on them. The beams and pillars and the doors and windows were all carved with them. Even his robe, bedding, bed curtains and chair cushions were embroidered with dragons. What’s more, dragons adorned his cups, plates, bowls, and dishes.

When the real dragon in heaven learned of this, he was deeply moved. He decided to visit Lord Ye to thank him in person. So one stormy night, the dragon descended to earth. He thrust his head through the window and dragged its long tail in the sitting room.

You might think Lord Ye would have been very happy to see a real dragon. But no! At the sight of the creature, he was scared out of his wits and ran away as fast as his legs could carry him.

After this incident, people knew that Lord Ye only loved pictures or carvings, which look like dragons, not the real thing.

From that story we get the idiom 叶公好龙(yè gōng hào lóng). We use it to ridicule a person whose professed love or support for something cannot stand the test of reality.

After you read the story, what do you think on our Canada? Does it have also such hypocrisy the story told us?
